With 270 km of cycle, mountain bike and E-bike trails, offering tours of every kind from gentle spins to tough bike-carrying stretches for mountain bike aficionados, the Montafon boasts a plethora of bike routes, all just waiting to be discovered. The routes are excellently and individually marked to ensure optimal biking fun. The Hotel Traube in St. Gallenkirch / Gortipohl makes the perfect starting point.
The Montafon valley in the south of Vorarlberg is surrounded by three massive mountain ranges. In the north-west are the imposing limestone crags of the Rätikon; to the south loom the crystalline rocks and partially glaciated peaks of the Silvretta; forming a barrier to the north east is the Verwall massif. And running through them, backwards and forwards, up and down, is a network of well-marked footpaths ideal for walkers of all standards. The tracks lead through forests, across lush meadows, from hut to hut, past alpine inns, over hills and along ridges to the mountain peaks of the Montafon. What more could a walker wish for? Aquarena – bathing fun whatever the weather....
Discover and enjoy the fun of bathing, fitness and relaxation in the Aquarena "all weather pool" in St. Gallenkirch, near the bottom station of the Silvretta Nova cable car.
Guaranteed bathing fun – come rain or shine!
The Aquarena – bathing fun from May to the end of September whatever the weather! The extensive glazed swimming hall, with its recliners and loungers for relaxation, melds the interior of the building with the world outside. The swimming tunnel which leads from the spacious family pool provides a seamless transition to the adventure pool outside.
Use of the restaurant with its sun terrace and kiosk is not restricted solely to bathing guests, but is also accessible to visitors from outside.
“Brönna” Kneipp cold water therapy pool
Following the banks of the Ill is an unspoilt footpath leading to the village of Gortipohl. Walkers arriving here cannot fail to spot the Kneipp cold water therapy pool, nestling into the lovely riverside countryside.
The pool is fed by a crystal-clear spring with a constant temperature of 4°C. This is the place to relax and recharge your batteries – the perfect end to any walk.
Many of the footpaths in the Montafon are also ideal for Nordic walking or jogging. It’s the healthy alternative for walkers of all ages, and can be enjoyed at any time of the year.

Tennis in the Montafon
4 tennis courts are located in an idyllic position on the woodland outskirts of St. Gallenkirch /Gortipohl. Additional courts may be found in Gargellen, Gaschurn and Schruns-Tschagguns
Golf in the mountains
The myriad golfing facilities, including a golf simulator, Vorarlberg’s very first golf course, and the highest green which is located at an altitude of 1,100 metres, provide a choice guaranteed to satisfy everyone, from keen beginners right through to experienced golfers. The Montafon valley offers the perfect place to practise your golf, regardless of your handicap. Vorarlberg boasts five golf courses within a radius of 50 kilometres!
