RENATE WURZINGER, NÉE WALSER
I was born in Vienna, grew up in Gortipohl and completed my training at the Hotel Management School in Bad-Hofgastein in Salzburg. After that I spent several seasons in a number of different establishments in order to widen my experience of the hotel industry. I really enjoy the contact with our guests!
I was born in Styria and trained as a chef in the renowned Parkhotel in Graz. Afterwards I gained a lot of experience and “know-how” working in different establishments both in Austria and abroad. Cooking is my vocation and my passion.
THE HISTORY OF THE Hotel
The hotel was purchased in 1964 by our grandparents, Franz and Amabile Walser, who carried out renovations before opening in June 1965. They ran the Gasthof “Traube” with great enthusiasm until 1972, enjoying interminable rounds of cards with the locals over the years, and sinking quite a few litres of wine in the parlour, not to mention those great party nights in the company of the village clubs, locals and guests.
1972 the business was taken over by our parents, hoteliers Harold and Angela-Susanne Walser, and further improvements made.
1975 the first new extension was undertaken, incorporating the cellar, bowling alley, dining room and 7 bedrooms.
In 1979 the hotel was expanded, with two extra floors being added, each with 7 double rooms.
1986 the old part of the hotel was demolished and rebuilt.
We have run the family business in St. Gallenkirch – Gortipohl since 1993, and little by little over the course of the last few years we have lovingly restored it and brought it up to date.
2004 - 2021
In the year 2004 we added an extension including a spacious wellness complex, a new restaurant and additional premium accommodation.
Our down-to-earth tradition, together with our belief in an honest, straightforward hands-on approach, have encouraged many of our guests to become regulars (=friends).
Renate and Jürgen, together with the whole “Traube team” are part of a solid family business which cares for its guests with dedication and passion.
